A Breast Cancer Survivor Speaks
The following is a response to a blog question regarding our May story, “Protect Your Breasts”: If you are a breast cancer survivor, how did you fight it and what lifestyle changes have you made to help prevent a recurrence? (You can access our blog by visiting www.energytimes.com; questions are also posted to our Facebook page.)

I have had breast cancer for four years. The cancerous lump and 20 lymph nodes were removed. I chose not to do IV chemo or radiation but am on an oral chemo product. Side effects are fairly minimal.

I now eat more fruit and raw vegetables, and less sugar. I also take supplements to boost my immune system. I make an effort to exercise at least four to five days a week, both cardio and weights, and walk whenever the weather permits. I keep a positive attitude, which I attribute to my faith in God.

I have three daughters and advise them to do self-exams often.
