Back in the Stone Age, people needed an anxiety response to survive: When a hungry bear approached a cave dwelling, anxiety would trigger the nervous system into a finely orchestrated series of chemical reactions that initiated action. Lactium supplements overcome this problem. In one study, as yet unpublished, lactium significantly reduced stress reactivity in healthy women who took it for 30 consecutive days. On the heels of this study, a multinational team of researchers then investigated the effects of lactium on women who exhibited at least one symptom of stress. The team found that lactium at a dose of 150 milligrams per day was particularly helpful for people who had exhibited the highest stress intensities. The women also experienced improved digestive, cardiovascular, intellectual, emotional and social functioning (European Journal of Clinical Nutrition 4/07).
